SAKS presents the pigment on paper works of the young Swedish Berlin based artist Henrik Strömberg.

"The works presented deal with the idea of deconstruction of the photographic image, or the transformation of the photograph and its role as referent to time and place - the intention is to shift what is represented and through combinations of images, that are similar but gathered from different sources, create a temporary entropy through the recontextualizing of the subjects; Thus unfolding the potential of narrative supported by the use of text as image and ultimately images as text.
As a starting point I work with two different approaches; first using photography as a method of study, and second using photography to make a series of conceptually related works. It is from these two approaches that I explore the relationship between the narrative and the monumental. This is realized in the selection and presentation of works for exhibition. I do this by creating a sequence of images from the library of various studies and series of works I have done. In the exhibition of these photographs, I require the viewer to find a particular rhythm within the variety of works presented. The space from one image to the next can be as important as the image itself. Often, I combine seemingly disparate images to create a sense of temporary entropy interrupting the expected narrative with the intention to create a larger experience, discovery or surprise.
The subjects of my imagery, depicting scenes, spaces, elements, figures, or abstract shapes are less significant than my wish to prompt a deeper sense of reflection, a grasp of the intangible, or a glimpse of the other."
